Genuinely obsessed with/need to own every single costume from Wicked (and Wicked: For Good)...which is unfortunate, considering all of them were custom-made for the films. But! There's a glimmer of hope for those of us desperate to channel Glinda's pretty-in-pink aesthetic: Her sparkly necklace from “Dancing Through Life” appears to be Swarovski—at least according to fans who ID'd it:
I mean, makes sense, since Ariana Grande is a Swarovski ambassador! Best of all, the Lilia Butterfly Necklace is available on Amazon—and it's 42 percent off for Cyber Monday. Meaning: Though it usually retails for $119, you can snag it right now for less than $70. Say no more, add to cart, done.
While you're running to shop this accessory, let's take a moment for Wicked's genius costume designer, Paul Tazewell, who chatted to The Hollywood Reporter about Glinda's iconic style—specifically when it comes to her gown from the first scene of the first film.
“The fabric has that same translucent quality, but we gave it a more sculptural, modern interpretation,” he explained. “It’s all fantasy clothing, but I wanted to create a new icon—something fresh for these characters.”
The Academy Award-nominated designer was inspired by “bubbles floating into the sky,” and explained that the dress “has hooping to create structure and functions like a traditional hoop skirt. I placed stiff nylon netting cut into spiral shapes and twisted into cones to give the gown lightness.”
Tazewell added, “It had to feel weightless, as if it were floating on air. There was a lot of engineering involved to ensure it moved gracefully when Ariana Grande wore it."
Mission accomplished.
